Press Release: The Central Bank of The Bahamas to Release a New Bahamas $10 Banknote

Published: Wednesday December 7th, 2022

As part of its ongoing strategy to modernize currency products in The Bahamas, the Central Bank will release an updated version of the $10 banknote on 15th December, 2022.

The new $10 banknote resembles its predecessor, with the exception of the colour, which has changed to predominantly grey to better distinguish it from the CRISP Evolution $1 banknote released in 2017. Like the recent $50 and $100 banknotes, this $10 banknote is printed on Landqart’s durability-enhancing Durasafe® substrate, and incorporates Crane’s RAPID® HD Detect thread alongside other newly embedded security features. The portrait of Sir Stafford Sands has received slight enhancements, as have other features, such as the yellow elder flower on the front of the banknote and the lighthouse and flamingos on the back.

The Central Bank remains committed to educating the public about Bahamian currency, and on 15th December, 2022, will add this note to its banknote app, ‘CBB Banknote MAP’, which highlights security features of all CRISP Evolution banknotes. The app can be used to assist with the authentication of genuine Bahamian banknotes and may be downloaded from the Apple App and Google Play stores.
