Get Money Smart 2025 Financial Literacy Video Essay Competition Winners

The Central Bank of The Bahamas congratulates the students who excelled in the 2025 Get Money Smart Bahamas Financial Literacy Video Essay Competition.

The 2025 competition received approximately 127 entries from Bahamian students across The Bahamas and abroad. The competition continued to focus on encouraging research on topics related to the Bahamian economy and improving financial literacy among students. The video essays addressed the topic of the impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on the financial sector:

“Artificial Intelligence will help boost local Bahamian financial services.”

This year’s topic proved to be very timely, as artificial intelligence continues to reshape global industries and the local economic landscape. Commenting on the submissions, the judges applauded students for their ability to look beyond the novelty of the technology and provide a thoughtful analysis of how AI can drive efficiency and accessibility within Bahamian financial services. While students generally focused on the positive transformative power of AI, they also demonstrated an awareness of the risks and ethical considerations involved in its implementation. Governor John Rolle emphasized the importance of this engagement, stating, 'I’m glad that we’ve asked our students to engage with it. AI isn’t just a distant phenomenon; it’s already a part of our day-to-day lives.' He further noted that as the sector evolves, 'the future of financial services belongs to those who can combine innovation with integrity—people who can use technology without losing sight of the values of trust, safety, or fairness.'
