Bahamas Securities Portal Enrolment

The Central Bank of The Bahamas advises the investing public that, effective immediately, all transactions through the Bank for purchases of Bahamas Government Securities (Registered Stock and Savings Bonds) must be through accounts on the Bahamas Securities Portal. The Bank has discontinued the acceptance of purchase applications through other channels. All current and prospective investors in Bahamas Government Securities, who deal directly with the Central Bank are required to enrol in the Bahamas Securities Portal: https://www.centralbankbahamas.com/bahamas-registered-stock-portal.

Transactions through brokerage accounts do not require separate registration, as such requests are submitted to the Central Bank through the Broker Dealer. Businesses seeking to invest in Bahamas Registered Stock for the first time are required to participate through a Broker Dealer.

Successful enrolment in the Bahamas Securities Portal requires users to register using their National Insurance Board (NIB) number, uploading a valid ePassport, and completing mandatory KYC and banking details. For customers without a valid ePassport, an NIB card along with a valid driver’s license or voter’s card may be uploaded. Businesses holding Bahamas Registered Stock purchased directly through Central Bank are required to register using their Tax Identification Number (TIN) and shall not use an individual’s National Insurance Board (NIB) number for enrolment purposes.

The Bahamas Securities Portal has been developed to streamline the enrolment, application, payment, and allocation processes for Bahamas Registered Stock and Bahamas Savings Bonds investments. Through the platform, users are also able to track the status of their applications in real time.

In the near future, the portal will facilitate additional functionalities, including the ability to request redemptions, update banking and contact information (email, telephone, and address), stock transfers and view investment holdings.

Since its launch in 2024, client registration and portal use has been optional. However, as part of ongoing efforts to enhance its operational efficiency and service delivery, the Central Bank has transitioned to exclusive use of the portal for all individual customer transactions and service requests related to participation and ownership of government bonds.

To ensure continuity of service, all existing holders of securities on accounts with the Central Bank, if not already enroled, are required to complete the enrolment process, even if there is no immediate or foreseen intention to participate in upcoming offerings.
