The Central Congratulates the 2023 Financial Literacy Video Essay
Competition Winners

The Central Bank of The Bahamas congratulates the students who distinguished themselves in the 2023 Get Money Smart Bahamas Financial Literacy Video Essay Competition.

In its fourth year, the competition engaged students from public and private institutions across The Bahamas, from primary school level up to university enrolment. The competition continued to deliver on its main goal of promoting more research on topics relevant to the Bahamian economy and improved outcomes for financial literacy. The 2023 video essay competition attracted approximately 90 entries, with over 20 percent outside of New Providence. This year’s theme was:

“Competition is Essential to Increase the Supply of Bahamian Banking Services.”

The Central Bank is pleased to recognise the outstanding scholars in the following categories:

PRIMARY SCHOOL (Grades 4-6)

A five-member panel of judges reviewed the entries. These were Mr. Gowon Bowe, Group CEO, Fidelity Bank Bahamas Ltd.; Mr. Ian Fernander, Retiree, Central Bank of The Bahamas and Consulting Executive Director, The Bahamas Institute of Financial Services; Dr. Tanya McCartney, Consultant, Bahamas Financial Services Board; Mr. Rupert Pinder, Economist; Mrs. Latoya Smith, Sr. Policy Advisor, Central Bank of The Bahamas.

The Central Bank looks forward to engaging with scholars again in 2024 as it celebrates its 50th anniversary.
