The Bahamas Registered Stock (BRS) is a low-risk investment, with short-term (1- and/or 2-year) or long term 3-, 5-, 7-, 10-, 20-, 30-year tenors. BRS is considered a fixed income instrument because the interest paid by the borrower to the lender on each bond is a fixed amount called the coupon. Stocks can be purchased directly from the Central Bank or via a registered broker-dealer.
