Globenet Finance and Trust

Published: Thursday May 20th, 2004

It has come to the attention of the Central Bank of The Bahamas that the referenced entity, which is the subject of a Warning Notice posted to the Central Bank website, is continuing to illegally promote itself as if it were an authorized bank in The Bahamas. Globenet Finance and Trust is not currently nor has it ever been authorized to use such name or offer banking services via internet or otherwise from this jurisdiction.

Recently these perpetrators have facilitated the fraudulent issue of documents falsely using the name of the Central Bank of The Bahamas, its logo and an employee name to solicit payment of "Currency Marginal Fluctuation Differential Charges" or purporting to be an "Irrevocable Letter of Guarantee/Intent". No such charge or document exists, and this activity is aimed to deceive and exploit unsuspecting internet users for criminal purposes.

This scheme remains under investigation by the Royal Bahamas Police Force. Members of the public are advised to be cautious.
