Parotti, Holly

Holly Parotti was born in Nassau in 1972. At eighteen she moved to Connecticut where she obtained an Associates Degree in Liberal Arts and Sciences from Thames Valley Technical College. She then transferred to Virginia Commonwealth University in 1994 where she studied painting and printmaking. In 1997, she merited a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree.

Holly's portfolio largely focuses on printmaking. She uses disciplines of etching and lithography to register the rich tropical and oceanic subject matter that she has been engrossed in since childhood. Only in the past year has she also used oil painting in an attempt to document the same images in a completely different medium. In her work the image is composed and cropped in a manner that allows the viewer to study its detail focusing on the single subject. The likeness is rendered and then either the printing or painting process is applied to allow the viewer to be drawn to the delicate beauty of the theme. The diverse character of each process translates the image into unique personalities. Whether on canvas or on paper Holly's work provides perspectives of the tranquillity and subtle magnificence in nature.

Her work featured on our site includes:

  1. chambers, a 15"" X 12"" Etching
  2. flamingo, a 9"" X 12"" Etching
  3. Pelagic 1, a 18"" X 12"" Oil on Canvas
